Hello my friends!

I am back from the beautiful Milan. Wow, what an experience! It was first time for me to visit Salone Del Mobile 2016, but it is definitely one of the greatest show I’ve ever seen in my life. An absolute must for those who loves, enjoys and appreciates great design.

I took at least one thousand of photos – there were no ugly stands at all, all participants tried to make them look very interesting and presented the very best of their designs. Despite all stands look different and original, I have spotted certain repeating design trends, which I would like to share in this post.

Grey

All shades of grey are still in vogue. Especially it referred to all luxury brands – this color was seen on walls, rugs and furniture.

Dark green

Green was the second popular color that I’ve noticed. Designers opted for dark rich shades which made the furniture and accessories pop. Despite intensity and darkness, this color looks very fresh and relaxing.

Inky colors

Denim blue, charcoal grey – and all other dark colors that that envelope you and make you feel like inside a cozy cocoon:

Ethnic accessories

Ethnic accessories such as rattan furniture and lighting, carved wood, ceramics and tribal rugs are very popular and often used in combination with modern furniture.

Dark rich woods and exotic finishes

Designers are exploring new materials – such as exotic woods and marbles.

Lighting that is a feature

I almost didn’t see stands with generic plain light – lighting everywhere was cleverly used either to highlight an interesting feature or to be a feature by itself.

Lush vegetation

Green walls, palm trees, hanging plants were playing the chief role during the show:

Books for decorating shelves (often without cover) were among the most popular accessories:

I hope you enjoyed reading about these interior trends and I am really looking forward to seeing the exhibition next year!
