Pink Living Room Makeover

Spread the love

Good morning dear friends! In today’s post I want to share the project I’ve been recently working on: a pink living room makeover in my parents house.

The first thing I did was making a list of those things which needed to be changed in the room. This included:

  • floor and ceiling
  • wall finishings
  • new sofa/ wardrobe
  • TV stand
  • working space
  • textiles + accessories + plants

As with any other interior design project, I started with making a concept board. The rooms needed to be very light/airy/soft with lots of tender pastels and bold colours as accents. Here is my moodboard for this project:

When I was sourcing finishings and furniture for this living room, I have found an Italian company Antica Signoria producing gorgeous decorative stucco for the walls. The pink stucco that I have chosen has this amazing pearly texture, that creates depth and and more powerful visual effect comparing to ordinary paints.

The wardrobe was custom-designed to fit the corner of the room and maximize the storage space. It was made in dark brown veneer to provide an accent and dilute the abundance of warm colours.

The flooring and the rest of furniture was chosen in red wood and I think it creates an interesting effect of combining different types of wood in one space. Many people are scared to do so, but I think it makes the space look more creative and amusing.

The oil paintings are done by me, the cushions on the sofa as well and you can find this simple tutorial on how to quickly make zip-free cushion covers.

The curtains were custom made using Italian fabric with orienal motifs and pink lining, which has the same pearly texture as the walls.

Now it was time to add some plants to refresh the room and make it feel more lively:

Workspace was decorated with three funny pics of owls which I found in one of the Etsy shops:

Vignette with rubber plant (which resulted to be more naughty than was promised in the shop – please, if you know how to get read of dark spots on the leaves, let me know in the comments! ), several books, teal mirror, and little porcelain trinkets:
