DIY project: Creative Way to Hide Plugs and Switches

March 4, 2015

I just came across this absolutely cool idea on how to hide unattractive plugs and switches using simple picture frame. For this project you will need:

  • picture in a frame
  • hinge
  • screws and screwdriver
  • drill

Steps:

1. Attach the hinge to the frame using screws and screwdriver. Screws need to be short, otherwise they will go through the frame and damage the picture.

2. Try how the picture will look like on the wall. The depth of the frame can be chosen individually, so that the outline of plug is not visible through the canvas.

4. Fix the frame on the wall. Now every day you will see a beautiful artwork instead of ugly switches!

I love this idea! I have an electrical panel in my office that I’d like to hide yet have access to- this may do the trick!

Thanks! I’ve covered an electrical panel with a banner before, but I never thought of hiding a thermostat like that! Brilliant!

Similarly, a friend of mine covered his thermostat with a carved wooden mask – the openings of the eyes and mouth still allow for airflow.
