Among all interior styles Bohemian is the one that has captured me utterly. It corresponds closely to my personality and outlook: break the rules, enjoy the life, love the art and by all means don’t be afraid of anything. It gives so much freedom to experiment, be creative and express individuality. I also like that it is not pretentious and rather shows the character of a person, then current design trends. 1) Colour

Boho interiors are always full of colour and pattern. This style doesn’t stand monochrome schemes or strict rules in combining hues. It welcomes bold combinations and striking patterns, even if used on a single piece of furniture, wall decor or carpet.

The most popular colours include rich burgundy, deep purple, bright pink and sunny yellow.  To complete the look add some colourful patterns in the form of decorative cushions, rugs or patchwork.

2) Pattern

Be brave with combining various patterns and prints. Usually boho interiors are inspired by motives from exotic countries: India, Latin America, Africa. However, an interior shouldn’t be influenced by only one particular country (otherwise you room will look like a Raja’s palace), but rather be a cosmopolitan space featuring items from all over the world.

4) Furniture

It’s best to source furniture on flea-markets, garage sales and auctions – there you may find something really unique and original. The older the piece, the better it looks in Bohemian environment. However, don’t go extreme: incorporate some modern items as well, otherwise your apartment will look like an antique shop.

Think of exotic rugs and textiles, lace and crochet, fringe and your travel souvenirs. Finally, a guitar or another musical instrument will never be a mistake in a Boho-chic space.
