One of the things I am really grateful for is that my blog and eventually my boutique gave me the opportunity to meet some really talented people from all over the world. The artisans and artists I am working with have different personalities and characters, but there is one thing that I’ve noticed that unites them all – there is this bright and warm light in their eyes, which appears, I believe, from genuine satisfaction and joy they receive from their work.

The artist I want to talk about in this post I’ve met one year ago in Yerevan, Armenia. In fact, we met occasionally when walked our dogs and only later I discovered that she is an artists and creates amazing decorative objects and gifts – that’s where our collaboration has started. Her name is Anush Khemchyan and in one of the previous posts I have already talked about her sister Nina, who is also a talented ceramicist and artist living in Paris.

I strongly believe that art at home should bring bright and positive emotions, make us better, kinder, warmer. With colourful and joyful creations, made by Anush it is always the case….

She really loves her country and her home city Yerevan – she says she can’t imagine living somewhere else. Armenia has become for her a main source of inspiration, and there is no surprise as this country has a very long history and such a rich cultural heritage. Ancient monasteries with its intricate carvings on the walls and doors, virgin nature with its mountains and picturesque meadows, pomegranates as a symbol of fertility  – all this has found reflection in the beautiful items, created by Anush.

Anush can be described as a functional artist, exploring the boundaries where arts and crafts are meeting each other. Mainly she works with such materials as wood and ceramics, hand decorating them with acrylic paints.  She uses the finest of brushes to create the most intricate and fine ornaments and each piece takes several hours of meticulous work to complete.
