Summer in Moscow is the cherished time when on Fridays the whole city gets stuck in three hour traffic jam to get out to the longed countryside and “dachas” – our second houses in the exurbs. My parents also do have one, and this Saturday after several hours spent in attempts to kill the time, calm down our dogs and overcome the sleep and hunger we finally arrived to our few acres of green lawn, garden and fresh air.

Despite we have our house for more than fifteen years, every summer we think how we could make it even better and more beautiful. And it’s been a while I am dreaming to get exotic and opulent peacock chair…

I think it will suit so well our rustic surroundings! I’ve spent some time on the Internet and have found some really cool spaces, where peacock chair was involved. The rooms are different, but they are united by the fact, that this piece of furniture always plays the chief role. And how else it can be if initially peacock chairs we designed in East Asia as a throne seat reserved for royals? Then in the 19th century, it was brought to US and Europe, where they became extremely popular in the boho-glam environment.

Today Peacock chair has made a big and confident comeback. Despite it is still continued to be associated mostly with bohemian, artistic spaces there are plenty of ideas how it can be used in other settings. Let’s start to explore them!

1. Peacock + Scandi

Minimalistic, Scandinavian spaces just need a splash of emotions, whether it is expressed in colour, form or texture. Peacock chair is one of those elements, which can bring some life in the otherwise boring rooms:

2. Peacock + Boudoir

The mother of boudoir style, decorator Sera Hersham-Loftus (Sera of London) uses peacock chair almost in every project. No wonder: which woman wouldn’t fancy to sit on it in her private premises and imagine, at least for a second, that she is the princess of an exotic country?

3. Peacock + eclectic

Eclectic style gives you the freedom to mix and match anything, as long as the result is good and pleasant for eyes. That’s probably the reason, why such bizarre object as peacock chair looks quite naturally in the eclectic spaces:

4. Peacock + colonial

Peacock chair with other exotic bagatelle was brought to us from the East and initially it was an integral part of colonial homes. If you feel passion for this style, peacock chair as well as tropical palm trees in large pots should be in your “must-have” list.

5. Peacock + garden

That’s where i would probably imagine this chair in my own house: terrace, patio or balcony. I would pair it with tribal rug, mixed rattan furniture and colourful cushions…

6. Peacock + nook

Not everybody wants to have boudoir resembling scenery of the movie “Burlesque”, but, I believe, a small nook only for self is a dream of many…

7. Peacock + moody

Dark and moody rooms are an adversary to Scandi decor, though something they have in common: they need some bright accents to break up the monotony… Peacock chair would serve at it best in that case:peacock chair

Now, when I am finishing writing this post I am absolutely confident, that my life wouldn’t be complete without peacock chair…
