The patio is the pinnacle of summer entertainment. You have a few friends over or maybe the entire family. Whether it’s a BBQ or a nice day in the pool, the patio will be the central spot where everyone hangs out. So you want it to be accommodating and you definitely want it to be stylish. You likely have the patio furniture already, but there are some little touches that can still go a long way to top things off, sometime as simple as searching for patio umbrellas online and protecting your outdoor sitting area from sun and rain.

Wants some ideas? Here are five different ways you can transform your patio.

1. A Paint Job

Many make the mistake of not painting their patio when they move into a new home. They either like the traditional wooden deck look or it just simply doesn’t come to mind. The truth is that painting your patio can make a night and day difference. If you already put in new patio furniture, you have a big enough reason to justify changing the paint. If you haven’t, you have a bit of an advantage as you can decide what color to use and what furniture will match up well.

2. A Hot Tub

This might be an obvious positive point for any patio, but many do not realize the effects it has on the entire theme of the deck. A patio featuring a hot tub has a completely different look and attention grab to it than a patio without one. If you want to do one better, make a semi-level or slightly private spot to put the hot tub. Heck, you can even put it in your gazebo.

3. Add A Bar

If you don’t have a bar area already, it’s a great little addition and it doesn’t have to take up much space. You can have a bar strip along a side of the deck with pub chairs or stools. You can even build in a cooler to store cold drinks. Alternatively, you can make more of a nightclub-style bar in the corner of the patio. In most cases, you can take up a fair amount of space without interfering as guests rarely flow around the corner of the patio. You can even take it a step further and build a Tiki bar.

4. Add Patio Chair Cushions

This is one of those subtle changes that can go a long way. The boring chair cushions are just, well, boring. Spice things up a little by designing your own patio cushions. This doesn’t just have to be for the chairs either. You may have a bench on the side of the patio that can do well from being nicely upholstered. You may want to match the cushion to the table umbrella, deck paint, patio table, or even match it to the trees or house. There are countless options and you have full control over what you choose.

5. Get Inspired by Others

Just take a look at a patio ideas website and see if you can find any patios that catch your interest. There will be many in homes that you can’t compare to, but it’s often the little features and amenities that really get noticed. These can often be matched or done in a similar fashion with your patio.

You can add to what you currently have to increase the appeal.
